Intensive Courses

Our intensive courses are arranged in accordance with the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR) levels A1 – C1. In these courses there are 4 lessons per day each 45 minutes and a total of 16 lessons per week.  The curriculum is designed in a way that you can effectively achieve the level of language proficiency you would like to achieve. Please notice that you need two months to complete A1 and then 8 weeks for A2. For B1 you will need 4 or 8 weeks (depending on your preknowledege). Recognized textbooks ensure stimulating and varied German courses. At the Advanced Level, your teacher puts his or her own German course together. Questions about German Intensive courses

Are the teachers native speakers from Germany and Austria? Yes. Our native speaking teachers help us to enhance the quality of our language courses from A1 to C1.

How early on should I book a German course in Graz? We recommend booking a German course approximately 3 weeks in advance. The complete payment will have to be deposited within a given deatline after your booking.

Is any English or another language spoken at these courses? The answer is no. By avoiding other languages (especially english), participants will learn to find their way around german as quickly as possible. The second reason is that the other students on the german course may not have an English-speaking background. Of course our teachers know English (or other languages) and they will help you if there are “special questions”.

How many students are assigned to each level? Depending on the level the maximum number of students per course ranges between 8 and 15 participants.

What do I learn in the courses? After the A1 course you can understand and use familiar everyday expressions and basic phrases aimed at the satisfaction of needs of a concrete type. You can introduce yourself (Ich heiße…., Ich komme aus….) and others (Das ist …..) and you can ask and answer questions about personal details such as where you live, people you know and things you like. You are able to interact in a simple way provided the other person talks slowly.

After the A2 course you can understand sentences and frequently used expressions related to areas of most immediate relevance (very basic personal and family information, shopping, local geography, employment). You can communicate in simple tasks requiring a direct exchange of information on familiar matters. You can also describe in simple words aspects of your background,  environment and matters in areas of immediate need.

After B1 you can understand the main points of clear standard input on familiar matters regularly encountered in work, school or leisure. You can deal with most situations in an area where german is spoken. You can produce simple connected text on topics which are familiar or of personal interest. You can describe experiences and events, dreams and hopes and briefly give explanations for opinions and plans.

After the Level B2|C1 you can understand a wide range of demanding, longer german texts.  You express yourself fluently and spontaneously without searching for german expressions. You should use german language effectively for social, academic and professional purposes. You are able to produce clear, well-structured, detailed text on complex subjects, showing a controlled use of connectors and cohesive devices (obwohl, indem etc).
